Stained Glass workshop at Gilgamesh for Creative Arts, Jabal Al-Lweibdeh, Amman
50 JODper person
About 3 hrstypical session
Ages 18+skill level
Includeddrinks & snacks

This is real stained glass, made the traditional way. Rather than painting a design onto a sheet, you cut coloured glass to shape, wrap each piece in copper foil and solder them together — the same method behind the windows in historic churches and heritage buildings.

A genuine craft, in one session

Three hours is enough to produce a finished piece you would be happy to hang. You will cut, foil, solder and patina, and you will leave with something made entirely by you.

Why this one is 18 and over

Stained glass involves scored glass edges and a soldering iron at high temperature. We keep it to adults for that reason. If you are looking for something similar for a younger group, our glass painting workshop covers comparable ground without the heat and cutting.

What you will learn

  • Reading and planning a stained glass design
  • Scoring and breaking glass accurately and safely
  • Grinding edges for a clean fit
  • Copper foiling each piece
  • Soldering seams evenly on both sides
  • Applying patina and finishing

What is included

  • Guided session of around three hours
  • Coloured glass, foil, solder and patina
  • Full use of tools and safety equipment
  • Unlimited drinks and snacks
  • Your finished piece to take home the same day

Questions

Why is the minimum age 18?

The workshop involves cutting glass and using a soldering iron at high temperature. We keep it to adults for safety. Our glass painting workshop is the equivalent for younger participants.

Do I take my piece home the same day?

Yes. Unlike ceramics, stained glass needs no firing, so you leave with your finished piece.

Is it dangerous?

It is supervised throughout and we provide all safety equipment. Cut glass and hot solder require respect, and we will show you exactly how to handle both.

Can I make something specific?

Yes, within reason for a three-hour session. Tell us in advance what you have in mind and we will advise on whether it is achievable.
